Illinois Institute of Technology seeks a distinguished teacher, scholar and leader as Chair of the Department of Humanities in IIT’s Lewis College of Human Sciences. As the home of humanities research and teaching in a technological university, the department holds a special role in the education of all of IIT’s students. In addition to a wide range of offerings in the undergraduate general education curriculum, the department offers BS degrees in Communication, Digital Humanities, and Humanities. MS degrees are offered in Technical Communication and Information Architecture and in Technology and Humanities. There is also a PhD degree in Technology and Humanities. IIT has strong programs in architecture, business, computer science, design, engineering, law, mathematics, psychology, and the natural sciences, providing many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.

IIT is looking for a creative scholar, dedicated teacher, and vibrant, strong, and collaborative administrator committed to interdisciplinary work. It currently has faculty in history, philosophy, communications, linguistics, the digital humanities, and media, and welcomes candidates from these as well as other humanities fields. Candidates for the position are expected to merit appointment at the rank  of full professor tenured in the department. IIT offers competitive compensation and benefits.
