Call for Applications: Participation in the NYU Abu Dhabi Winter Institute in Digital Humanities (19-22 Jan | Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates)

December 1, 2019

NYU Abu Dhabi Winter Institute in Digital Humanities is accepting applications from researchers, educators, advanced students, academic staff, librarians, administrators or any other person from any academic or non-academic institution who is interested in current trends in advanced technological applications in the humanities.

Places are limited. All participants must apply for the Winter Institute following the four steps described below.

Application

Each participant will apply to the Winter Institute in Digital Humanities and choose one course of the eight courses offered in parallel. Spaces in each course will be allotted on a first come, first served basis and courses will close once the cap on participants has been reached.

The application process will take place in four steps: filling out a registration form, assignment of available course, payment of fees, confirmation of registration in the course.

  1. Go to the registration form here, applicants should choose three courses in order of their preference and provide their contact details and affiliation(s). Please be sure to let us know if you require a letter of invitation for visa purposes by checking the box.
  2. Applicants will receive an email from the WIDH organizers acknowledging their application, including details of the course to which they have been assigned (according to availability of seats) in addition to the letter for visa purposes (if this was selected).
  3. Along with the acknowledgement of their application, they will receive a link to a payment gateway to settle their fees for the Winter Institute. Early bird registration ends 31 October 2019 and regular registration ends 1 December 2019. Applications and payment will be accepted and confirmed on a rolling basisWe will hold your seat in a given course for 10 days after the payment gateway link has been communicated, after which point your seat may be released for someone else. Fees must be paid by 31 October 2019 to receive the early bird price.
  4. Once payment has been received, a confirmation of payment will be issued and your seat in the course will be confirmed. Fees are nonrefundable, even if you ultimately cancel your attendance.

Upon successful completion of their course, all participants will receive a “certificate of participation” at the end of the Winter Institute.

The event will be free for students from all NYU campuses.

Any participants from NYU global network (New York, Shanghai or the global sites), as well as students who would like to attend the Winter Institute are requested to email us directly at nyuad.widh@nyu.edu as there will be a slightly different registration procedure and fee structure for them.

Poster Session Proposals:

If you would like to propose a poster about your research for a peer-review process, you can submit your abstract for the poster here explaining the scope, subject and methodologies of your research.
