SUMMARY:HLS Legal History Fellowship
DESCRIPTION:Raoul Berger-Mark DeWolfe Howe Legal History Fellowship\n\n\n\n\n\nHarvard Law School invites applications for the Berger-Howe Fellowship for the academic year 2019-2020.  Eligible applicants include those who have a first law degree\, who have completed the required coursework for a doctorate\, or who have recently been awarded a doctoral degree. A J.D. is preferred\, but not required.  The purpose of the fellowship is to enable the fellow to complete a major piece of writing in the field of legal history\, broadly defined. There are no limitations as to geographical area or time period. \nList of current and former fellows \n\n\n\n\n\nFellows are expected to spend the majority of their time on their own research. They also help coordinate the Harvard Law School Legal History Colloquium\, which meets four or five times each semester. Fellows are invited to present their own work at the colloquium. Fellows will be required to be in residence at the law school during the academic year (September through May). \nApplicants for the fellowship for 2019-2020 should submit their applications and supporting materials electronically to Professor Bruce H. Mann. \nApplications should outline briefly the fellow’s proposed project (no more than five typewritten pages) and include a writing sample and a curriculum vitae that gives the applicant’s educational background\, publications\, works in progress\, and other relevant experience\, accompanied by official transcripts of all academic work done at the graduate level. The applicant should arrange for two academic references to be submitted electronically. The transcripts may be sent by regular mail to Professor Mann at Harvard Law School\, Cambridge\, Massachusetts 02138. \nThe deadline for applications is February 15\, 2019\, and announcement of the award will be made by March 15\, 2019. \nThe fellow selected will be awarded a stipend of $38\,000.

SUMMARY:Call for Applications: Salzburg Cutler Fellows in International Law
DESCRIPTION:What is the Fellowship? The Salzburg Global Seminar is an independent non-profit designed to create future leaders. It runs the Lloyd Cutler Fellows Program\, which brings together 55 of the nation’s top law students for a two-day program with leading academics and practitioners in the fields of private and public international law. The aim is two-fold: (1) to create a network of women and men interested in careers in international practice and public service\, and (2) to provide an opportunity for promising future leaders to gain academic feedback and career advice from established international law scholars and practitioners. \nOn Day 1 (Friday\, Feb. 22) Participants will circulate draft papers or 5-8 page executive summaries in advance.Small-group sessions to provide feedback on papers\, interspersed with short talks\, panels\, and networking opportunities\, featuring eminent practitioners.A dinner for fellows and faculty will be held Friday evening. \nOn Day 2 (Saturday\, Feb. 23) Career-related discussions with practitioners from different fields of international law\, with a morning devoted to “looking beyond law school.” \nWhat is the Cost? Harvard Law School will cover the cost of transportation and one night of accommodation in Washington\, D.C. Meals will be provided by the Salzburg Global Seminar. \nWho Can Apply? This program is open to 2L and 3L students\,as well as LL.M. and S.J.D. students. Students with a strong desire to pursue a career in international law are particularly encouraged to apply. Students are encouraged to submit articles or papers in development for other purposes (e.g.\, seminar papers\, independent study\, law review notes\, LL.M. long papers).
