DESCRIPTION:Professorship for Islamic Studies\nThe future job holder should represent the subject of Islamic Studies in research and teaching in its entirety. They should have a focus in the area of ​​the pre-modern Islamic world with the source languages ​​Arabic and Persian\, which is demonstrated by outstanding\, internationally visible achievements. Another focus in the area of ​​the reception of premodern traditions in modern Islam is welcome. Co-responsibility for the Islamic Studies (Bachelor and Master) and doctoral programs is expected\, as well as the willingness to participate in the new specialized master’s programs “Philosophy in Asia and the Islamic World” and “Modern Asian and Middle Eastern Studies” of the Asia Orient Institute . In addition\, participation in disciplinary and interdisciplinary cooperation structures in a national and international context as well as in committees of university self-administration is expected. \nA doctorate as well as a habilitation or comparable excellent academic achievements and publications in Islamic Studies or in related fields (Oriental Studies\, Arabic / Iranian Studies\, Middle East Studies etc.) are required. Proven third-party funding\, international networking and relevant experience in interdisciplinary research and teaching contexts are also expected.
