Abhishek Kaicker is a historian of South Asia in the department of History UC Berkeley and currently a junior fellow at the Society of Fellows at Harvard. His primary scholarly interests lie in questions of sovereignty, power, and politics in the period of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, prior to the establishment of the British colonial state. His first book, entitled The King and the People: Sovereignty and Popular Politics in Mughal Delhi (OUP, forthcoming), is expected early next year.
