The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, University of Exeter is seeking to appoint its Al-Qasimi Chair of Islamic Studies:

The post holder will primarily contribute to the research and teaching activities of the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies in the area of Islamic Studies. While this may be in any area of Islamic intellectual history and the study of religion relating to Islam including aspects of race, gender, and sexuality, we would particularly welcome applicants with a specialization in the sociology or history of science and/or medicine in the world of Islam. We are also particularly committed to decolonial approaches to the study of Islam and committed to ensuring that our procedures reflect our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusivity. The post holder will be an innovative researcher with a strong and current publications record of high quality and international standing, and a track record of research funding acquisition. The post holder will be a leading international figure with the ability to attract high quality researchers at doctoral and postdoctoral level to the Centre for the Study of Islam.
