From the organizers:
Greetings from Cairo! We are writing today to share with you information about our graduate programs in Arab and Islamic Studies at the American University in Cairo.
As you know, AUC is one of the oldest international higher education institutions in the Middle East. Our department brings together leading scholars in a number of fields and offers an MA with four different specializations: Arabic Literature, Middle East History, Islamic Studies, and Islamic Art and Architecture. Students at our program benefit tremendously from the vibrant experience of living in Cairo, which provides an excellent opportunity to develop Arabic language skills, and our university offers an important language program that caters to various needs. They also benefit from exposure to different aspects of Arab culture and access to a variety of primary source material. Recent alumni have gone on to join doctoral programs at the University of Chicago, McGill University, Harvard University, Oxford, Cambridge, and other premier institutions, while others have pursued careers in heritage management, education, journalism and a wide range of related fields.
AUC also has a program of fellowships and scholarships for graduate students and most of our graduates receive at least partial support during their years of study. Furthermore, AUC has numerous partnership agreements with international universities, and graduate students are welcome to attend AUC as part of the exchange programs for one or more semesters.
