Call for Applications: Data Science Fellowships (2020-2021), Program in Islamic Law at Harvard Law School

The Program in Islamic Law welcomes applicants who are interested in developing a data science project for a term or academic year in residence at Harvard Law School. Successful applicants will have a focused technical project that contributes to improving research methods within the field of Islamic law and/or history. PIL is particularly interested in methods that apply big data and machine learning. Applicants’ final projects will be featured on the Portal. We seek applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds, academic traditions, and scholarly interests. Women and minorities are especially encouraged to apply. Applications undergo review by a fellowship committee, and are subject to space and funding limitations. (Note: Applicants must reasonably expect to have been awarded their degree by the beginning of the appointment.) Visiting fellows may apply for a stipend of up to $40,000 for the academic year.  

Applicants should apply by submitting a project proposal that includes 1) a research statement 2) resources needed 3) two letters of recommendation 4) one writing sample 5) a CV. Applications for the 2020-2021 academic year are due January 31st, 2020.
