Project Title: MISLAM: normativity and citizens of muslim-majority countries. Interdisciplinary comparisons of legislation, jurisprudence, practice and inter/national literature in family and juvenile rights, immigration and asylum, and healthcare
Projection Description:The project attempts to reconcile human rights with shariʿah by investigating the dynamics affecting and molding the migration routes of nationals of Muslim-majority-countries and their (long-term or temporary) settlement projects in Europe. Italy becomes a privileged observatory to investigate migratory paths unfolding across several concurring normativeities, while being a litmus test of patterns developed in other (extra-)EU countries.
Within the above-described framework and three main thematic areas – family and minors’ law; immigration and asylum law; and health law and bioethics – we will: identify and analyze relevant legal sources and (un)published case law from Italy and other European countries; examine relevant national and international literature; undertake a comparative legal, jurisprudential and doctrinal study of the sources examined; and develop an interdisciplinary theoretical-conceptual analysis.
Fellowship Annual Amount: 22500 Euros
Mandatory Requirements:
Mandatory requirement for admission to the selection: Italian Laurea Magistrale, or Laurea a Ciclo Unico, or an equivalent degree from foreign Universities, obtained no more than 6 years prior to the application deadline (ie obtained after April 9, 2020).
