ILSP Lunch Talk :: A Southeast Asian Model of Sharīʿa Law? The Evolution and Possibility in Southeast Asian countries

Mansurah Izzul Mohamed, Visiting Fellow, ILSP: SHARIAsource, Harvard Law School will discuss her current research on how some Southeast Asian countries introduce and/or implement sharīʿa law practices. She will assess the history of the region and whether this model will hold up in the face of political, economic and human rights pressure from the wider international community.

Mansurah Izzul Mohamed holds a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy (MALD) from the Fletcher School, Tufts University (2017) and a Master of Arts in Political Studies from Auckland University (2011), respectively and a Single Honors Bachelor Degree in International Relations from Keele University (2006). She has been awarded a Brunei Government In-Service Training (LDP) Scholarship to undergo graduate level studies. Before commencing her postgraduate studies, Mohamed worked in Brunei Darussalam as a Research Officer and then Assistant Director at the Department of International Organizations (DIO), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT).
