Position opening: Assistant Professor in Modern Middle Eastern History, William & Mary University

The Harrison Ruffin Tyler Department of History and the Program in International Relations at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, seek applications for a jointly-appointed position at the Assistant Professor level in modern Middle Eastern history, including Iran and Central Asia, and International Relations. Appointment will begin August 10, 2022.

The applicant is expected to establish and maintain a vibrant research program that inspires a highly motivated undergraduate student body.  Teaching expectation is 2 courses per semester. Successful applicants must possess the skills to teach an interdisciplinary course on contemporary issues in international relations, an introduction to global history, and compelling courses on modern Middle Eastern history, as well as to contribute to the Program in International Relations.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in History or a related field at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2022).

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in teaching and mentoring successful undergraduate research is preferred.
