Visiting Fellowship at SHARIAsource

February 16, 2018

The Islamic Legal Studies Program announces the opening of applications for a Visiting Fellowship for ILSP: SHARIAsource for the 2018-2019 academic year. This fellowship provides opportunities for outstanding post-doctoral scholars and faculty from other institutions for research, writing, and scholarly engagement on Islamic law at Harvard Law School, in ways that further the broad Program mission.

We welcome applicants with a terminal degree (JD, SJD, PhD) or other comparable degree interested in spending a semester or the year working on an independent project. Topics of study can range widely, and typically bring legal history, comparative law, and law and society approaches to the study of Islamic law. We seek applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds, academic traditions, and scholarly interests; and we especially encourage applications from women, minorities, and citizens of all countries.

Fellowship terms can be one or two semesters in length. Fellowships may be non-stipendiary or stipendiary, with a stipend of up to $5,000 per month. Fellows will be expected to participate in Program activities, contribute to the intellectual life of the Program and the Portal, and are encouraged to organize one or more academic events related to their fellowship project.

The deadline to submit all application materials (including letters of recommendation) is February 16, 2018. Click here for additional information and how to apply. Click here for the application.
