Visiting Scholar Opportunity: The Fares Center for Eastern Mediterranean Studies at The Fletcher School at Tufts University, 2023

The Fares Center for Eastern Mediterranean Studies at The Fletcher School at Tufts University, announces the Fares Visiting Fellowship for the fall semester of 2023. The information below outlines the status, rights, and responsibilities of a Visiting Fellow.

General Information

The Fares Visiting Fellowship is an honorary title awarded to junior or senior scholars visiting The Fletcher School who hold professorial or scholarly positions at other institutions. Fares Fellows are not employed by Tufts University during their stay. Fellows participate in the scholarly life of the Fletcher community. A Fellow is  offered the following privileges:

*   A Fellowship of $40,000.
*   An office at the Fares Center, at the Fletcher School.
*   Ginn Library borrowing privileges as provided by Library regulations.
*   Computing privileges, including email.
*   Participation in the activities of The Fletcher School and Tufts University.
*   Parking on University campus.

The Fares Visiting Fellow may also have opportunities to participate in some University research projects.

Details regarding the above courtesies will be provided with your Visiting Fellow Identification card following an official offer and there may be fees associated with some of these courtesies.

The Fellow will be required to teach a graduate course in their area of expertise contingent upon approval of syllabus by the School’s Academic Council, present a public talk at the Fares Center, and participate in the Center’s activities.

All areas of Middle Eastern Studies will be considered, but preference will be given to scholars specializing in social history, and politics and society in any of the MENA countries.
