On Friday 12 of February 2021 from 7:30 to 9 pm (EST), Iranian Association of Boston will host Dr. Shahla Haeri in a virtual event:(https://zoom.us/j/6179244726)
Dr. Haeri is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and a former director of the Women’s Studies Program at Boston University. Dr. Haeri has authored several books, including The Unforgettable Queens of Islam: Succession, Authority, Gender, published in 2020. The topic of Dr. Haeri’s talk is “Women and Political Leadership in Muslim Societies,” Which is based on this book. Dr. Haeri describes her observations regarding the role of Muslim women and political leadership in the Muslim world. She discusses how and why women!s political participation and leadership are indispensable for meaningful national development, and that women’s empowerment must be on the political, legal and social reform agendas. Dr. Haeri!s talk will be followed by a Q/A session.
