Congratulations to the HLS Class of 2019!

The Program in Islamic Law offers hearty congratulations to the 801 JD, LLM, and SJD students who graduated from Harvard Law School on May 30 amidst a full slate of Commencement activities (see the Year in Pictures). The Program has been fortunate to have known and worked with many of these young scholars in various capacities: student, research assistant, event organizer, and enthusiastic participant in Program activities. We offer our best wishes for success in the varied endeavors on which they now embark.

PIL also congratulates the winner of the Islamic Law Writing Prize, Orubah Sattar Ahmed (LLM ’19), for her paper on “Lost Chastity to Lost Honor: The Heuristic Shift in Rape Discourse by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.” The prize has been awarded since 2014 for the best submitted paper on Islamic law by an HLS student.
