Michael Kebede is a public interest attorney in Maine. He holds a Masters of Socio-Legal Research from Oxford University.  His master’s thesis, titled, Misrecognition in Recognition: the Islamic Institutions of Ethiopia’s Federal Government, analyzes Ethiopia’s official Majlises and Shari’a Courts in light of the country’s politics of recognition.  His research interests include law and religion, politics, philosophy, legal pluralism, and the social science of Shari’a.
