Field Guide to Digital Islamic Law Resources Roundup

The Field Guide to Digital Islamic Law, in the form of a Google document, is a collection of resource links and annotations to SHARIAsource and other Harvard resources, global online digital resources, and a robust “Digital Islamic Law Collection.” We recently added several exciting resources to this list:

  • The Cumhuriyet Digital Archive features all issues from 1980-2019 of the Turkish Republic’s first and oldest continuously running secular newspaper, founded in 1924. The content from 1924-1979 will be digitized and put on the platform by early 2021. The archive is a unique resource for researchers wishing to examine the political, legal, and sociological landscape of the Turkish Republic since its founding.
  • The Digital Library of the Middle East Platform, enabled by the collaboration between the Council on Library and Information Resources and Stanford Libraries, aims to become one of the world’s largest digital archives of Middle Eastern and North African artifacts. The Platform currently brings together more than 127,000 artifacts, which include various types of written documents, maps, publications, and audiovisual recordings.
