Ari Schriber is Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Max Weber Centre for Advanced Social and Cultural Studies at the University of Erfurt, Germany. He is a legal and intellectual historian of the modern Middle East and North Africa with particular interest in Islamic legal practice in colonial contexts. His current book project focuses on the context of Morocco, retracing notions of property, paternity, and proof as they were negotiated in the colonial legal field. He holds a PhD from Harvard University (2021) and previously held teaching and research positions as Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at Utrecht University (2023–2025) and Arts and Sciences Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Toronto (2021–2023).
