Justin Jones is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Theology and Religion at the University of Oxford. He is a historian of Islam in modern South Asia, and has written widely on subjects of Islamic renewal and the remaking of religious authority in the subcontinent. He is currently working on the development and adjudication of Islamic family laws in state and non-state forums in India, and he has further research interests in the remaking of family laws in other Muslim minority societies.
