Muhammad al-Marakeby is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII). He holds a PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Edinburgh, UK; an MA from Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar; and a BA from Al-Azhar University, Egypt. His expertise spans Islamic law and modernity, contemporary Islamic thought, decolonization theory, and Islamic history. He has published in renowned journals such as Die Welt des Islams, The Journal of Islamic Ethics, Islamic Law and Society, and The British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies. He is currently working on his forthcoming book titled, Traditional Reformists: The Development of Islamic Ethico-Legal Theory in Nineteenth-Century Egypt.
