  • In “The Judiciary and the Rule of Law in Afghanistan” (Judicature 105, no. 3 (2021)), Mehdi J. Hakimi (Stanford Law School) argues that, long before the Taliban’s rise to power, the Afghan judiciary experienced “institutional design flaws, primarily in the constitutional architecture, [that] curtailed the judiciary’s capacity to act as a check on the other branches.”

This Field Guide to Islamic Law Online is an ever-growing collection of links to hundreds of links to primary sources and archival collections around the world, online. We recently added new resources to this list:

  • Al-Islam.org “is created and maintained by the Ahlul Bayt Digital Islamic Library Project (DILP), a registered Non Profit Organisation that operates through the collaborative effort of volunteers based in many countries around the world. [Its] objectives are to digitize and present on the Internet quality Islamic resources, related to the history, law, practice, and society of the Islamic religion and the Muslim peoples, with particular emphasis on Twelver Shia Islamic school of thought.”
  • Digital Palestinian Archive “is dedicated to documenting the life of Palestinians (persons, families and organizations) over the past century. Documents collected include the most diverse types of written and audiovisual materials (texts, photographs, videos, recordings).”
