- In “Harmonization of State, Custom, and Islamic Law in Aceh: Perspective of Legal Pluralism” (Hasanuddin Law Review 10, no. 1 (2024)), Mursyid Djawas (Banda Aceh, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, Indonesia) and others explore how Islamic law complements and interacts with secular and customary law in the Indonesian province of Aceh.
- In “The Role of Islamic Law, Constitution, and Culture in Democracy in the UAE and Indonesia” (Ahkam: Jurnal Ilmu Syariah 24, no. 1 (2024)), A.H. Asari Taufiqurrohman (Universitas Pekalongan, Indonesia) and others “explore[] how Islamic law and local culture influence democracy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Indonesia and how each country’s constitution facilitates the implementation of democracy based on Islamic principles.”
- In “Empowering Muslim Women: Bridging Islamic Law and Human Rights with Islamic Economics” (De Jure: Jurnal Hukum dan Syariah 16, no. 1 (2024)), Nur Insani (Ichan University Gorontalo, Indonesia) and others “investigate[] the harmonisation of Islamic law and human rights in the context of empowering Muslim women through Islamic economics.”
On Islam and Data Science
- In “Islamic Legislation Enforced by Kelantan Local Council” (Semarak International Journal of Islamic Studies and Culture 1, no. 1 (2024)), Suzei Mat Nurudin (Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia) and others, surveying a total of 80 respondents, collect and study viewpoints on the bylaws of a local council in Malaysia that are inspired by Islamic law.

The Field Guide to Islamic Law Online is an ever-growing collection of links to hundreds of primary sources and archival collections around the world, online. We recently added new resources to this list:
- The Brooklyn Museum‘s artifacts and manuscripts from the Middle East can be accessed online through a webpage maintained by the Digital Library of the Middle East. The online collection comprises more than 8,000 items.
