  • In “A Short History of Zaydi fiqh” (Leiden Arabic Humanities Blog, April 15, 2023), Eirik Hovden and Ebrahim Mansoor (Leiden University) provide a brief overview of Zaydī legal jurisprudence as well as its evolution.
  • In “‘A stray bullet from the seventh century hit Yemen’: Anti-Zaydi polemics and the politics of genealogy in al-Ghobari’s Al-Qabīlah al-Hāshimiyyah” (Leiden Arabic Humanities Blog, June 9, 2023), Marieke Brandt (Leiden University), “departing from the anti-Zaydi and anti-Hashemite polemics of the Yemeni writer Sam al-Ghobari (Sām al-Ghubārī) in his book Al-Qabīlah al-Hāshimiyyah (Cairo 2019),” how non-elite Yemeni people view the social stratification produced and entrenched by some of the writings of Zaydī scholars.
  • In “Zaydi fiqh and the Jews of Yemen” (Leiden Arabic Humanities Blog, June 2, 2023), Kerstin Hünefeld (Leiden University) explores how “the study of Zaydi jurisprudence help us understand the relationship between Imam Yaḥyā Ḥamīd al-Dīn (r. 1904-1948) and the Jews of Yemen.”

  • In “Factors Contribute to Awareness on Halal Logistics among Muslim Consumers” (International Journal of Academic Research in Business & Social Sciences, June 16, 2023), Teh Zaharah Yaacob (Department of Management and Technology, Faculty of Management, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia) and others explore, through a survey of 110 respondents, how Muslim consumer behavior is shaped based on whether production and logistics of goods are compliant with Islamic law.
