- In “Honoring the Sacred Duty: Orphan Care in Islam and Pakistan” (Al-Nasr 2, no. 3 (2023)), Hafiz Muhammad Azeem (Advocate, High Court, Pakistan) and Omar Mahmood Wattoo (National Law College Rawalpindi, Pakistan) argue that “Islamic law offers a unique approach that safeguards the orphan’s original biological identity in case of adoption.”
- In “Islamic Perspectives on Polygenic Testing and Selection of IVF Embryos (PGT-P) for Optimal Intelligence and Other Non–Disease-Related Socially Desirable Traits” (Journal of Bioethical Inquiry, December 4, 2023), A.H.B. Chin (Singapore Fertility and IVF Consultancy Pvt Ltd., Singapore) and others call on “Muslim scholars, jurists, doctors, and biomedical scientists to “issue a fatwa on this new medical technology platform,” which is the ability of parents to choose “more desirable” genetic traits for their children.

- In “Unlocking the Poverty-Alleviating Potential of Zakat: A Case Study of the Sentra Ternak Mandiri, Ummul Quro Zakat Managgement Institution” (Jurnal Hukum Bisnis Islam 15, no. 1 (2023)), Sarah Kurniawati, using data “obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation on the Sentra Ternak Mandiri program run by” an Indonesian locality, argues that “poverty alleviation through Islamic economic instruments will not succeed if the management only stops at distribution.”
- In “Child Adoption Model in Islamic Law: A Case in Central Java Indonesia” (Journal of Integrative Islamic Studies 9, no. 2 (2023)), Qurrota A’yun, Nur Meilani and Dewi Rahmawati (UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan, Indonesia) “analyze the model of child adoption practices and the legal consequences of adopted child status in Islamic [l]aw.” The authors conduct “a field study with a juridical-empirical approach, which is descriptive and analytical in nature.”
