- In “Public Perception of Polygamy in Makassar, Indonesia: Cultural Perspective and Islamic Law” (Samarah: Jurnal Hukum Keluarga dan Hukum Islam 8, no. 1 (2024)), Muhammad Saleh Ridwan (Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar) and others, based on a survey of 80 participants, find a variety of reasons members of the Makassar community invoke to justify polygamy, some based in Islamic law and some not.
