  • Androscoggin Bank in Maine, United States has begun “offering mortgage plans without interest payments in order to comply with Muslim law.”
  • “From mid-2024, Islamic Bank Australia is set to offer Australia’s 813,000 Muslims a banking service aligned with their religion’s strictures against profiting from interest or investing in harmful industries such as alcohol or gambling.”
  • Officials from Indonesia‘s Aceh province have ordered men and women not immediately related or married to “stay apart in vehicles and public places.”
  • “Iran‘s President Ebrahim Raisi vowed […] that the Islamic republic‘s mandatory dress code, including laws requiring women to wear the hijab, or headscarf, would be enforced as a growing number of Iranian women shun the head coverings.”

  • Following protests where tombstones of former employees of an Afghan news channel were damaged, an Afghan cleric issued a fatwā stating: “Destroying the grave or kicking the grave is not allowed according to Sharia.
