- Professor Radwan El Sayed (Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities) reviews Intisar A. Rabb (Harvard Law School) and Abigail Krasner Balbale‘s (New York University) edited volume, Justice and Leadership in Early Islamic Courts (Harvard University Press, 2017), in the Islamic Studies Journal (June 5, 2024).
- In “Married Women Property Rights under Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act of Sri Lanka: A Critical Analysis” (ATSK Journal of Law 1, no. 1 (2024)), S. Dawood (University of Colombo) asserts that “[t]he Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act (MMDA) of Sri Lanka has faced criticism for its perceived inadequacy in safeguarding the property rights of women.”
- In “Judicial Practice as Islamic Law: The ʿAmal of Fez in Post-Classical Mālikī Legal Tradition” (Asiatische Studien – Études Asiatiques, June19, 2024), Ari Schriber (Utrecht University) argues that “understanding Islamic law’s mechanisms for discursive stability is critical for its well-established capacity to change through principles like ʿamal.”
On Islam and Data Science
- In “Implementation of Salam Contracts in the Sharia Principles Framework: Surveys and Prospects in the Field” (Demak Universal Journal of Islam and Sharia 2, no. 2 (2024)) Valijon Ghafurjonovich Macsudov (Tashkent Medical Academy, Tashkent, Uzbekistan) and others conclude, based on a study involving multiple surveys and interviews, that “[t]he prospect of implementing the contract of greetings [salam contracts] in financial and trade transactions promises more inclusive and sustainable economic sustainability under Sharia principles.”
